1984 Saab 99 GL

1984 Saab 99 GL

In 1968 Saab wanted to widen its gamma (at that time just the sonnet sportscar and de 96) with a bigger 4 door saloon. This new car, designed by Sixten Sason, was called the 99 and was so modern for its time that it stayed in production for 17 years before being replaced by the Saab 900. The saab 99 was the first car ever to have windowwipers on the headlights, very usefull in snowy Scandinavian conditions. And the quick Turbo version was the first family car to be fitted with a turbocharger.

This particular car is from the last production year of the line, therefore showing all the improvements developed over the years. The trustable 2 litre 8 valve engine runs like a dream the second generation 5 speed gearbox is as perfect as the engine. Having had a respray not too long ago in original colour. The paint shows close to no defects. Tyres and brakepads are new all round and the front discs are changed aswell. Although not mint after covering 200.000km and surviving 31 years, it will be hard to find a more solid example in this price range, perfect as a daily driver.
